The church has never been the building. For the duration of the Covid-19 pandemic, Zoom “Common Worship” will bring Allegheny together with several Pittsburgh area UU churches for live online worship experiences every Sunday at 10:30am. After worship, there’ll be “Community Time” for each individual congregation to hang out to share a virtual coffee or tea, donut or some other pastry, holey or otherwise.
Religious celebrations mean many things to many people. But at their core, they’re about celebrating the fullness and joy of life, sometimes in the face of seemingly overwhelming sorrow and pain.
These weeks are full of reasons to mourn, worry, even despair. Especially during this time of social distancing, give yourself this gift. Connect if only for an hour or a moment to what’s lasting and most true: that the life of the spirit will continue, that stones will be rolled away, and that—eventually, when we have eyes to see and ears to hear— joy comes in the morning.
Check the church’s FaceBook page or sign up for weekly updates. Whichever congregation is hosting Pittsburgh UU Common Worship, we always do what we can to make Community Time on Sunday mornings after worship and throughout the week.
