Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church
We are a welcoming, urban congregation that puts Unitarian Universalism into action by celebrating life, nourishing the spirit, and inspiring a commitment to justice.
Join Us for Sunday Worship
Sunday worship at Allegheny offers an opportunity to find spiritual refreshment, inspiration, and joy. We worship together in the church sanctuary. Services are led by members and friends with Rev. David McFarland and Rev. Deryck Tines offering their reflections every month at Worship Café. Join us on the First and Third Sundays of the month for a unique experience at Soul Space and Worship Café. Second and Fourth Sundays are Open Space Sundays.
Soul Space | 10:30 am
Together, we create a contemplative setting for reflection and renewal. The service begins with welcoming words and prayer, and concludes with a time of reflection. The Soul Space spiritual theme for May is Living Love through The Practice of Imagination.
Worship Café | 11:00 am
Each month at the Worship Café, Allegheny welcomes Rev. Dave and Rev. Deryck to share their thoughts and passions to inspire us on the way.
All Are Welcome
You’ll find amazing people here from diverse religious backgrounds and on varied spiritual paths.
We are an LGBTQ Welcoming Congregation.

Allegheny Sunday
Apr 20 | Rev. David McFarland
We welcome Rev. Dave today to offer an Easter Sunday reflection as we continue our month-long exploration of the Practice of Joy. We will also share the joy of a traditional communion of bread and wine/juice in celebration of our own church community. Please join us
Apr 27 | Open Space Sunday
Rev. David McFarland returns to lead the congregation in a “singing-reading-quaker” style of worship. Using words and songs from our hymnals as the source of inspiration, we share worship as a community. Join us as we bring our month-long theme, The Practice of Joy to a close.
May 4 | Soul Space Reflection
Our Soul Space reflection this morning will center on May’s spiritual theme, Living Love through The Practice of Imagination. We will hold a period of extended space for our personal and communal Joys & Sorrows. Please bring a flower or sprig of green to add during the time of sharing. May the Fourth be with you!
May 11 | Open Space Sunday
Join us for an Open Space Sunday on this Mother’s Day. The sanctuary will be open for meditation and personal reflection from 10:30 to 11:00. At the top of the hour, Cynthia Carpathios will share some thoughts on a Zen understanding of “freshness” and invite those in attendance to explore together how seeing through fresh eyes can be of benefit to ourselves and those around us. All are welcome!
May 18 | Rev. Deryck Tines
At the Worship Café, Rev. Deryck reflects on this month’s spiritual theme, Living Love Through the Practice of Imagination. Please join Rev. Deryck and the Pittsburgh Unitarian Community Singers, as we imagine new ways of being in the world. All are welcome!
