This Saturday morning, December 7, 11AM in the church sanctuary, we celebrate the life of dear friend and committed Unitarian Universalist, Walter J. Brethauer. Walter was a member here for 57 years and, among many other things, lay minister of Allegheny for many years starting in the 1950s. Please join wife Martha and daughter Jill as Rev. Dave and Jesse lead a celebration of this beloved pillar of our community. Receptions will be in the church’s Emerson (Fireside) Room at 10AM and one following the service at about 12PM.
You can read about his life from the Post-Gazette, the Tribune Review, or find a link to a 2012 special article done on his American Field Service experience.
Walter will be missed. And his legacy will live on in this beloved community that he supported with his generous spirit, and in the lives of all those he touched.
The candle may have been extinguished. But the light and the warmth remain.
