Monday September 1st, Labor Day, 2-8PM, in the Strip District on Smallman between 16th-18th, join in a Labor Day & Back-to-School community festival following the Labor Day Parade.
This is an outdoor event where we anticipate a diverse crowd of a few thousand people from various communities within Allegheny County. Entertainment is planned from dance groups, comedians, spiritual singers, Pittsburgh Hip Hop Artists Against Genocide, etc., with free food for kids, motivational speakers, a kids “Fun Zone,” vendors, and a Community Awards ceremony. Rev. Dave will participate in the “Gone but Not Forgotten” moment commemorating fatal victims of violence.
Confirmed Public Officials for the event are: Mayor Bill Peduto, County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, State Reps. Ed Gainey, Jake Wheatley and Miller, Allegheny County Councilwoman Amanda Green-Hawkins and Councilman William Robinson, U.S. Congressman Mike Doyle, City Council Members Lavelle, Kails-Smith, O’Connors and Harris. And there will be representatives from Labor participating at the festival.
